Pela 14ª. vez em sua história, o Real Madrid da Espanha, conquistou o título do mais importante torneio de clubes do mundo, a Champions League, organizado pela UEFA.
A vitória veio dos pés do atacante brasileiro Vinicius Jr, que, aos 14 minutos do segundo tempo, no momento em que o Liverpool da Inglaterra apertava o time madrileno em busca do gol de abertura do placar. Vini Jr., bem posicionado na segunda trave, recebeu cruzamento precioso do atacante uruguaio Valverde e mandou para o fundo das redes da meta defendida pelo goleiro brasileiro Alysson do Liverpool.
Atrás no placar, o Liverpool não se deu por vencido e foi ao ataque em busca do empate. Criou algumas boas oportunidades, principalmente com o meia egípcio Mohamed Salah, mas parou na grande atuação do goleiro belga Thibaut Cortouis do Real Madrid.
O título marcou ainda a despedida do lateral esquerdo Marcelo, após 15 anos defendendo a equipe madrilena e 25 títulos conquistados no período.
A conquista da 14ª. “orelhuda” como é conhecida a taça de campeão da Champions League garante também, a presença do Real Madrid na próxima edição do Mundial de Clubes da FIFA.
