Felipe Nasr e o americano Dane Cameron foram anunciados como os primeiros pilotos do novo programa LMDh da Porsche, que deve começar em 2023.
Nasr e Cameron foram confirmados como pilotos de fábrica da Porsche no início do próximo ano na noite de sábado, quando a Porsche revelou seus programas de automobilismo para 2022.
Eles estarão “envolvidos intensamente no desenvolvimento do protótipo LMDh da Porsche”, de acordo com um comunicado da fabricante alemã.
Tanto Nasr quanto Cameron estiveram intimamente ligados desde o verão com a Porsche e a Penske Motorsport, que comandará a equipe de fábrica do fabricante no FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) e no IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship.
Nasr conquistou seu segundo título do IMSA este ano com a Action Express Racing Cadillac.
Cameron fez parte da equipe Penske Acura por três anos, de 2018 a 2020, vencendo o título do IMSA com Juan Pablo Montoya em 2019, antes de continuar seu relacionamento com a marca Honda na Meyer Shank Racing este ano.
O novo chefe da Porsche Motorsport, Thomas Laudenbach, disse que o novo LMDh desenvolvido em parceria com a Multimatic Motorsport em sua plataforma LMP2 de próxima geração “iniciará testes intensivos em janeiro para garantir que estamos perfeitamente preparados para nossa estreia na competição de 2023”.
“Muito feliz em anunciar a minha chegada na família Porsche Motorsport e a equipe Penske. Juntos nesta nova fase dos protótipos híbridos”, disse Nasr em seu Instagram.
