Mike Elliott, o diretor técnico da Mercedes, disse que novas peças que a equipe levará para a corrida em Silverstone devem fornecer mais velocidade. No entanto, o britânico também olha de forma realista para o GP da Grã-Bretanha, e diz que a Mercedes está claramente atrás da Red Bull e da Ferrari. Uma vitória na corrida na casa de Lewis Hamilton e George Russell parece difícil.
Elliott diz que a equipe alemã tentará forçar o carro em Silverstone. “Tentando obter algum ritmo do carro que temos ou do pacote que temos. Assim como as novas partes que vamos adicionar a ele”, disse ele.
O técnico da equipe alemã também admite que ao mesmo tempo eles precisam ser honestos consigo mesmos. “No momento, estamos um pouco atrás dos pilotos da Ferrari e da Red Bull e em uma corrida normal (Lewis vencendo em Silverstone) será difícil.”
